Registered Counselling Psychologist and Owner of Mpho Mbewe Psychology. She completed her MA (Counselling Psychology) at Rhodes University in 2014 and is registered as a Counselling Psychologist with the HPCSA and BHF.
She is passionate about working therapeutically with individuals experiencing various mental health challenges such as adjustment, stress and burnout; anxiety and depressive symptoms; grief and bereavement; trauma; identity and self-development; and relationship and family difficulty. She further facilitates group processes within a therapeutic and academic setting.
Her therapeutic work and interests are harnessed within several therapeutic modalities such as African Psychology, Narrative Therapy, CBT and psychodynamic, just to name a few.
These interventions range between brief and long-term therapy that is focused on well-being, positive and solution- focused orientations, that are integrative and multimodal in practice.
Her post qualification training in Impact therapy, NBI and BWRT 1 (Brain Working Recursive Therapy- Level 1) provides additional frameworks for therapeutic and academic engagement.
She is invested in providing multicultural and diverse psychological services, with particular focus and interest within the youth and adult populations. She has worked with a wide student population in various Higher Learning Institutions and is currently an educator at a private Higher Learning Institution (SACAP).
She converses fluently in English, Afrikaans and Sotho and is limitedly conversant in isiZulu and isiXhosa.
